About Clover Autrey

If something doesn't have a story connected to it, what's the point? And if Clover doesn't know the story, her imagination will go to work and fill one in. She has
always been fascinated by the whys and how -comes of people's reactions. Why does  one  person act that way where another would do something totally different
in the  same circumstances? And what happens when those two people are thrown together? So imagine how much she loves putting her characters through
intriguing situations and figuring out how they would respond to it.

Clover's two first literary  loves were Louis  L'amour westerns and on the other side of the genres, Andre Norton's high fantasy novels. As a teenager, Clover
stumbled on
Sand Sister in a long forgotten story collection,  and went immediately to the library to see if this Norton writer had written anything else. Uh,
yeah.  Andre Norton is still at the top of a long and ever-growing list of Clover's favorite writers.

One element found in both Ms. Norton's and Mr. L'amour's books is a  blossoming relationship or a touch of romance, which appeals to Clover.   So when
paranormal romance became hot, Clover raised her eyebrows in question. "Oh,  that's new?" But has been thrilled with being able to find more and more books with
the blend of two of her favorite reads. Now where are all the paranormal western romances?

Maybe she'll have to write one of her own. As much as she loves reading, she loves writing and creating stories. Before she even knew how to write her ABCs,
Clover and her sister were creating elaborate story lines that they made their Barbies play out. No going to the shopping mall or out on dates with Ken for these
dolls. They were being wrapped in scarves to resemble mermaid tails and thrown into the pool, or riding off on backs of dragons or unicorns (er, stuffed animals
with a few adjustments), or being bounced all over the trampoline as their spaceship took flight.

Her fondest (and earliest) writing memory is winning the Air National Guard's essay contest in 4th grade.  Yeah, yeah, 4th grade, who cares? But it was great!
Eyes drooping, because the assembly was seriously  boring, Clover came instantly alert when they called her to go on stage as the grand prize winner, beating out
5th and 6th graders.  Then even more awake when the announcer said all the parents would join their children on stage. Clover was about to tell the guy hers
weren't there, when her mom came running up from the back. When being informed her daughter had won the contest, she had assumed incorrectly and gone to
Clover's older sister's classroom.  Clover loves that.

Clover's pet peeves:
When any character set in a medieval fantasy setting says, "okay".  (Unless they happen to be time travelers, of course.)
And just now Clover decided that she really dislikes writing about herself in the third person.  What is that about anyway?
